Is it normal for a chameleon to try and bite or lick the insects off the leaf in front of him? Hasn't always done it only in the last week maybe. Please help.

no, it is not normal. Does it shoot its tongue at all? There may be something wrong with his tongue that he is trying to eat in this manner. Go to the forums tab above, health clinic and fill out the ask for help form. It could possibly be injured and that is not why it is not using its tongue but there are other issues that could be causing it.

Yeah he does try to shoot his tongue first but not as long as I have seen before. And been doing it for 2 days. And I have repashy superfoods. Calcium plus supplement and I dust the insects before I put them in. He is drinking lots too.

Is a male. Ambilobe. Had for bout 6-8 weeks. Only handled once since I've had him. Feeding crickets locusts and occasionally waxworms. Been misting twice a day with Luke warm water in a spray bottle and enclosure is 1.8m tall and 1.1m wide and deep wood and mesh. Humidity is around 15_30%. And hottest is 30c and coldest is 19c. Got umbrella plants rubber plants and ficus in it.

I have just moved him into his new enclosure lastnight so might be a bit stressed and still getting used to the fact it's bigger and the insects are thurther away. And I think he is due to shed agen soon.
