Please help!! :'(

My little panther chameleon Charlie, has just fallen about 1 meter to the ground. He went very dark and lay there like a starfish. When I went to pick him up he tried to run away... BUT...

His front legs does not work any more and was pushing himself across the floor with just his back legs. I have tried to move his front legs back and forth and he seems to have strength when pulling his legs backward. However he does not seem to be able to reach his arms out any more. His grip is still fine and he is not as dark any more.

Any ideas what might have happened and what I could do to help him? Im feeling rather useless at the moment just looking at him sit there not moving much. :'(

Thank you everyone!

I would get him in to see the emergency herp vet ASAP. Expect the worst and hope for the best. I hope he pulls thru. Keep us updated.

I am sorry that your panther got hurt! 3 feet is not all that far to fall and I have had mine fall farther than that and not get injured. We have had members whose chameleons died from falls, but that is rare. I don't think there is anything we can advise you on, other than to take your little guy to a vet if he does not start using his legs again.

UPDATE

The little fella is moving around as normal now. Hes happy and eating and drinking too. I done a few things to see if they helped and looks like they did so ill share what I done, just encase someone else can do the same?

- i let him grab my finger with both front legs and moved them back and forth with full range of motion for a few minutes. being careful and checking if there was any obvious pain or discomfort.

Then i put him in his house for 30 minutes to rest with some water...

- Then got him back out and let him walk about a little bit. Then put obstacles for him to climb up to exercise his legs and build strength up.

an hour or so later he seemed back to his normal self! :D

I think he has been lucky to recover and must be a strong little chameleon.

Hurray for Charlie! :)

That is really good news! I am glad he is back to his normal life. :)
I am just a one year chameleon keeper but maybe it is a good idea to went a vet and being sure he is not injured. Maybe an x-ray is necessary. (just maybe)

Being in shock is no joke. Imagine how scary it must be for a creature with such a small brain. (Just stating facts people. I know everyone's chams are soooo smart) It must be terrifying for them to not understand what is happening. glad he feels better
