Help! About the basking temp.

Hi all,

I have a question about my basking bulb fixture. I have a 3 month old panther chameleon and I used 50watt basking bulb and zoomed regular deep dome (not the mini one). I have an analog thermometer/hygrometer combo. It indicated the temp on the basking spot to be 83 degrees F. Recently, I got a digital thermometer and when I measured with the digital one, it was actually 89-90 degrees F! No wonder why my cham avoided going near the basking spot.

I immediately went to the near pet store, wanting to buy mini dome since the dome is smaller so would reflect/generate less heat. They didn't have the one I wanted, so I got Flucker 5.5'' ceramic lamp (small dome). With that one, the temp is now around 86 degrees F. I understand that baby panther chameleon's basking spot should be around 82 degrees..

How can I resolve this problem? Lowering the vines? getting a zoomed mini dome instead of this Flucker's dome? :(
