Here is our little baby Kronos. He is about 3 months old and is super tiny. He probably shouldn’t of been sold at such a young age but he’s here and he’s adorable!!!! Unfortunately he got injured in shipping and does have an issue with his back right foot or whatnot. We took him to a reptile vet that specializes in Chameleons. They said he’s doing good so far and that his foot will hopefully get better as he gains bone density. They said if he was older they would be able to splint it but because he’s so young and tiny, it’s basically impossible to do. At first they said we might want to return him. But there’s no way we would ship him back after the fact that he got injured in shipping. We do not want him to be hurt further or possibly be put down by the breeder. I would feel horrible for him, if we did. He’s a part of our family now and we love him very much!!!

I love researching, so we are pretty well informed. Buts it’s nice to have a place where we can ask questions from people that are more familiar with Panther Chameleons.

photos of him and his enclosure??
This is just his temp home. We have a 24x24x48 habitat also. He’s just so tiny we didn’t want him getting hurt by possibly falling from a higher height or have a hard time hunting his food.

I do have one question at the moment, if anyone could help, we would greatly appreciate it. Which thermometer gun or whatnot would you guys say is the best? We have 2 thermometer/humidity readers in there now. Just would prefer the gun thingy. Lol.

Unfortunately that cage isn't suitable for a chameleon. Chameleons like height, not width. Instaed of one 4ft wide, you should get one 4ft tall. Because he is so little now, that cage will be ok until the right one comes

Also he needs a T5hO uvb fixture, not the dual one. Please fill out the husbandry form as it covers ALL aspects of chameleon care. Unfortunately, YouTube and the google is where A LOT of misinformation lies. Fortunately, your in the right place at the right time. Everything can be fixed :)

Oh, sorry. I guess I didn’t make that specific. It is a 24w x 24d and 48h habitat that we have for him once he’s big enough.

We have the Reptisun T5 5.0, along with the Reptisun 5.0 compact fluorescent, the T5 5.0 can’t really be seen because of the angle of the picture.

Will fill out the husbandry form, still learning how to navigate this forum. Never been on a one before.

I'm no expert, but wouldn't a t5 bulb plus the compact bulb be too high uvb level? @Beman ?
Not sure, the vet said it was OK but somebody on here might know better. The vet said because of his bad back right foot, that the extra lighting would be helpful. I don’t know. Just want to help the little guy as much as possible. Will do some more research/asking and fix whatever needs to be. I do not want him to be hurt or given too much of something. Because sometimes too much of a good thing, is literally too much. Hopefully it’s helping but I will definitely correct that immediately, if it’s a bad thing. I’ll post another thread to see what everyone says.

So the compact is not worth having... Honestly they have to sit within inches of it and directly below it. If you have the T5HO with the 5.0 your looking at a basking distance from fixture bottom to basking branch of about 9 inches.

Now as far as the set up... Personally I would remove the heat... Just do the linear UVB and make sure your distance is correct so he is not over exposed to uvb. Now the reason why I say remove the heat... You have no air circulation in that tank... It will become a hot box and bake baby. IMO having heat on it is not safe.

The current basking temp is about 85 and his ambient temp overall is about 75. I have a fan also circulating the air but it’s a ceiling fan. Maybe I should get a small clip on one to help with that?
