My 12 year old son has loved lizards since he was a toddler so we got our first on May 1st. Betty is a female veiled chameleon and honestly, we didn't do as much research as we should have before getting her but luckily, she's done well. She's 3 months old now and very friendly. She actually seems to like being held!

I stumbled across this forum tonight trying to find out when they are considered to be fully grown and was completely surprised to discover that females can produce and lay eggs without a male in sight! Soooo, my first question is at what age do females reach sexual maturity so I can be ready with an egg laying bin?

Thanks in advance for all the answers to the zillion questions I'll probably be asking.

Welcome to the forums and congratulations on your female veiled. The girls are the sweetest but the egg laying can be a bit tricky. It's best to be prepared so when she's ready to lay all you will have to do is give her plenty of privacy. I recommend putting a laying bin in the enclosure around four to five months old. I'm attaching a few links for you about general care for veileds and the female veiled along with egg laying info and a video by one of our senior members about how to set up a laying bin. Do you have any pictures of Betty?
