Hello from Phoenix

Hello Everyone!! Not sure if I overlooked a intro thread or not so forgive me if I did. I just wanted to say hello and thank everyone for the great info on this forum. I got my first veiled chameleon two weeks ago which is my first chameleon ever. The veiled chameleon has been named Oscar and I believe he is about a month old. I am ready for the challenge that awaits but so far it's been smooth sailing.

Here is the run down so far and input would be great. In attempts to generate humidity in Phoenix I have a weeping fig tree and pothos, drip system, and mist the enclosure every 4 hours. For lighting I picked up a odyssea fixture got it before learning of their rep but it does have a cooling fan with a smoke detector above ;). It is the four bulb version and is running three 6500k bulbs and Reptisun t5 ho 5.0 bulb. I went with the XL Zoomed enclosure but I did cut it in half with extra screening since he is a baby and I'm sure it'd take forever to hunt down crickets if I didn't.

Future plans will be to get/build a stand for the enclosure to lift him higher. I will also be switching over to Arcadia bulbs. I will most likely go to a mister system as well. So with all this said here are a couple pics.

Congrats on the new baby boy! Oscar is very cute. :) Great way to cut the size of the enclosure in half!

Welcome to the forums!

Thanks!! I've gotten him used to coming to the front of the cage when its time to eat. I still haven't gotten him to the point of coming to me or crawling onto my hand but that's expected with it being a Chameleon I suppose. If I can I'll setup some trees around the enclosure for him to have a little free range but we will see.
