Hello everyone!
I am new to the forum.
Used to own Jacksons and flap necks a long time ago (late 70's!!!). Back then, no one knew anything about these guys and people were putting them in glass terrariums!!
There were no "care sheets", no "how to care for" books, no internet!!!
I actually had to go to Cornell U library to find the only decent book published (at that time) and it was in German!! Had to pay to get it translated!!
Now I see that chameleon care is widely known, tons of great info (some bad too!!) on the internet, and lots of places to buy animals.
I got mine from a pet store in Washington, DC. They had lots of exotic animals, but were clueless about chameleons!!
With my total lack of knowledge, and going by obseration only, I manged
to keep these guys alive for almost 2 years.
One died from an infection which started as parasites in the eyes.
I learned on my own that they do best in all screen cages, even though there was no literature to tell me this.
So, chameleon ownership and care have come a long way since 1977 !!LOL!!
Anyhow, just wanted to say hi in my first post
Oh, I also have a leopard geckco and expecting my first veiled chameleon in many years tomorrow and getting everything ready to make him comfortible
