Hello! do you want to be my friend! Lol

This is my first post on any forum EVER! lol

Just thought id say hi, as im new to this site. And new to chams, and new to lizards in general. But for a few months ive been looking at and reading a lot about chams and im hooked. Think my wife is getting a bit bored by me constantly showing her pics, and generally not shutting up about chams. lol.

I was thinkng a male first so i dont have to deal with egg laying. And have been looking at veilds (£80) in a friends shop, and soon he is getting in some panthers (£170). And a exo terra 18x18x24 to start me off while he is young. And im looking at terry thatcher (cages), walkabout vivariums and/or reptibreeze (last chioce), for when he is bigger. Alot of what i read can be very contradicting and i will probably be posting a few more questions yet.

Anyway if anything i have writen has caused any alarm bells in your knowledgeable heads please tell me so thank you.

Welcome to the forums! I am with you on not getting a female and dealing with egg laying! Everyone is here to help so don't hesitate to ask any questions!

Haha my girlfriend feels the same way! I think anything that comes out of my mouth starting with a "c" is automatically tuned out :)

Haha my girlfriend is constantly telling me to "get off that stupid site" (this site) I told her I'm getting a second Cham and she said it's going to replace her.

Hahaha, we should start a club!! I drive my girlfriend crazy talking about chams too! She also hates how much time I spend on this site and it's very possible that she might leave me if I get another reptile before we move into a bigger place. I really don't know how I managed to get away with my third and newest cham, but I did. :D

Welcome to the site :) Sorry you guys have gf's that are not enthusiastic about chameleons! My hubby is the one who turned me into a cham lover :D Funny thing is, I always had a phobia of lizards.. would freak out and scream whenever I'd see a little anole or gecko.. to the point of almost having a panic attack  My hubby kept telling me how chameleons are so different, they don't run or jump. And how they have really cool personalities (he used to have a Nosy Be named Junior back in the day when he was single) Anyway he dragged to a reptile show and the rest is history :p

It was a bit of a mission to convince my fiancé to let me get a Cham but once I got one it was to hard for her to hate something with big googley eyes and no bigger then my thumb, and know she loves google, will b interesting to c how she reacts when I bring home some panthers at the start of next yr  but I have a 2 month veiled that is amazing and lives in a exo terra cage like yours, enjoy them whilst there small, they grow quick, and welcome

Welcome :)

Yea a male Veiled is a good option to start off with. No eegs and they are very hardy.

Go for the reptibreeze for now and when his big, get the viv if you feel the need.

Let us know what options you have when buying the cham

Remember its worth while doing the best you can with the setup when bringing in the chameleon.

Make sure you get a UVB 5.0 lamp and a basking spot with a clamp lamp. Depending on the size of your chameleon get crickets and some cal powder that you can use to lightly dust the food. Also some D3 that you can give once a week if the chameleon will be indoors permanently.

Try get a Schefflera plant that will fit and grow in the reptibreeze, also get two or three meters vine.

:)

Keep us updated so we can guide you if need be.
