Hi, I am Mike. I am a new veiled chameleon owner and have to say I wish I would have been on this website like 3 weeks ago. At that point, if you were to ask me what I know about chameleons I would have given a response like " its a color changing lizard, right?" Well, since then I have been prowling the internet for answers and education.

Last week my girl and I randomly decided to stop at a Pets mart to look around, basically because we were bored. Anyways, long story short, we were convinced to buy a veiled chameleon when we showed some interest into it. The sales woman sold me 300.00 worth of worthless items (glass tank, waterfall, substrate, water bowls, etc.)

When I got home and put our new pet in his cage, I was instantly attached. Such a neat little pet that we named rambo, however I am rethinking that considering my curiosity of his/her actual gender. Anyways, I decided to do some research and realized how poorly our setup was and that rambo was really being mistreated. A day later, I ditched the glass cage, got a larger screen terrarium, ditched the waterfall, and made a dripper, bought some live plants, UVB tube light and have learned a ton. Ive been glued to this website every since and learn so much every day. The chameleon looks to be doing well now, but I believe he was very mistreated at the store. Look forward to being an active member here with a ton of questions. hello all, and my apologies for such a long post!

Welcome to the forum! Sounds like you're on the right track now with Rambo (does he have little spurs on his back heels?). Im sure you will continue to find this forum full of interesting and useful info - I certainly do. Please make good use of the search function, and any time you have questions dont hesitate to ask them. There are many knowledgable people here, and many opinions and ideas!

Thank you all, just posted some pics actually. As for male/female. I looked for the spur on his foot and its really hard to tell in my eyes, but I am obviously new at this. This site has been a great help with everything. Thank you all!
