What do the heel bumps have to do with masculinity??
Is it for mating?? fighting? channel surfing? For what is this adaptation?

Maybe they are just visual clues for all involved? It's not immediately obvious to me whether a veiled is female or male...those spurs sure clear it up. I'm guessing the lady Veileds look for that (and, the males stroke them on the female to reassure her that yes, he's a HE).
