Heat Pads

So I am looking into getting a few heating pads, one for my dubias, one for my misting machine (to keep the water warm), and one for my possibly upcoming cricket colony. The thing is... I don't want to drop $25 on some stupid PetSmart heating pad. Where did you guys get yours? Much appreciated :D

Swayne, why not a submersible aquarium water heater for your misting machine? The fire risks of a heating pad have me nervous about my roach setup... I have a ZooMed medium on its way.

Isn't there concern for doing this? Bacteria growth? I thought I read that somewhere...

cvs.

i just use a regular heating pad like i would for an injury.

it has a heat sensor with it, i just keep it on low.

Sorry I am a total noob on the whole heating pad thing

Would an electric blanket work? Or too risky?...

Dead- How much do those aquarium heaters run? I actually don't know if that will work... I have a crap misting machine (the infamous Monsoon).

...I probably wouldn't risk it. My idea was to put the heating pad against the side of the misting machine, on a low setting. I'm just worried about the plastic sides...

$15-$25 dollars. I have the infamous Monsoon as well (unfortunately) and I use an aquarium heater. I route it into the back and it looks quite nice. The only thing decent about the Monsoon is that it is not unattractive, so I didn't want to ruin its best feature.

Also, I don't know how you have yours set up, but I would worry about a heating pad getting wet underneath the Monsoon tank.

I'd like to know more about this. I could see how this would be a problem since I declorinate the water with reptisafe + warmth.

Perhaps I need to add a full scrub of the tank to my nighttime routine...

Well it doesn't really leak. I'm not thinking of placing it underneath, but against the side is what I was thinking.

caution with heating your water on your Monsoon. I have heard warm water will make your pump run hott and eventually fail

Gotcha, thanks Jon :) I am planning to ditch the piece of crap when I get the money to spend on a Mist King setup.

Does anyone know if this will work? :)

kool. Send it my way (i'll pay shipping). lol

It works justt fine on my terrariums. ;)

Lol... will do, when I finally get the Mist King ;) Unfortunately I think the timer may be broken :/

EDIT: Other than the timer, it actually works pretty well.

Wait, what?? The timer is broken?? How do you mist with it? Manually?

My timer is broken as well. It has no bearing when it actually mists. I had to buy a seperate digital timer.

John, how do you go about getting a good long misting with this thing since the limit is 2 minutes?
