heat lamp

My veiled's basking light broke, so I went to the store to replace it. I was in a hurry, so I just grabbed a heat lamp that looked like the one I had... however, when I got home, I realized it was an infrared heat bulb... not a basking light.

Can this even be used? Or should I just return it tomorrow (store closes in 20 minutes)

Return it and get a regular basking light but regular house bulbs which are like on average $1 each give good heat aswell, i always use those hope this helped

Vields can go down to 50 degrees at night. Put the cham to sleep....go out to a dollar store or whatever....and get a normal incondesent house light that gives the appropriate temperature. Babie vields should have basking at 80...Female adults at 85-88 degrees and male adults should be 95....make sure you have a digital probe temp gauge for accurate reading.
