Heat lamp dome upgrade

Winters in Chicago are notoriously cold and dry, looks like I maxed out my current heat lamp with a 75w bulb (highest recommended wattage) it's only getting my basking area in the low 80s and high 70s when it get chillier, come winter temps will fall further, any good heat lamp fixtures that look pretty good anyone use? My current heat lamp is just a silver fixture without a switch so an upgrade was planned anyway.
My veiled is about 7-8 months already and It's been pointed out to me that the basking light should start to creep up into the high 80s low 90s btw

It sounds dumb but it worked for me.

Put the lamp the towards bottom on the outside of the cage at an upward angle (say 45 degrees).

I just got a huge aluminum vented dome and bent the base at a 45ish angle and put it against the cage.

This creates convection heat to heat the cage. Remember only about 10 of those 75 watts are converted to light to bask the cham, the rest of it is wasted as heat.

why its $60 when it should be $6 is beyond me.

Interesting, does the light from that angle ever bother your cam? I may have to try that

Depends on the personally of the cham.

If he goes flat and vertical basks, he will be a quick learner. However i have one that just goes under the light and inflates like a potato, it doesnt work on him unless i get the aiming perfect.

Just remember standard safety rules apply, set it up so the cham cant get too close and burn. If he is a screen climber you will have to adjust for that.
