I just wanted to give you guys a little update on my veiled. He's doing much better now, thanks to all of you who helped me through the forum. he's regained a lot of his vigor. though he will always have bone deformities :( I believe he will live a long life. the main concern for him now is his jaw healing properly. I still feel horrible for letting this happen to him. and I wish there was a way to prevent this from happening to others in the future. I blame myself for his condition but I also blame a certain chain petstore for not providing proper care info. perhaps it's best if only breeders sell chams, as they are usually more knowledgeable about their care, and perhaps actually do care about chams (not just money). thanks a million times everyone for helping me save my little friend. special thanks to poshpenny who was perhaps the friendliest member to help me.

I am glad you received the help you needed and that your cham is doing better. I know stores give wrong info, but you are now giving your cham a good home and all the right things. That is what matters, pat yourself on the back for learning and caring.

I am glad your chameleon is doing better. You are not the first person to get the wrong info from a pet store chain. I have seen it too many times to count on here. A lesson learned and now you can move forward. Personally, I never trust stores for anything, and will always do internet research. There is just too much of a wealth of knowledge on here not to. Good luck with your little one and I hope he continues to improve.

well your right not to trust a pet store. I had a guy at a pet store tell me that leopard geckos need a uvb light. which didn't sound to off the wall, so I researched it online and came up with all kinds of misinfo. Im pretty sure they don't require uvb as they are nocturnal and any bright lights can blind them. also he highly recommended flukers high calcium cricket diet which was the only thing he had.

Leopard geckos and UVB is a controversial topic right now. It was widely accepted that they didn't need it, but recent research suggests that they in fact do require or at least highly benefit from UVB. It's still too early to be conclusive enough to be considered a requirement but I keep my leopard geckos under UVB. Their MBD (they're rescues from a neglect situation) has healed much faster since its addition.

The Flukers stuff is crap though.
