Health Quesion

Good Afternoon,

I haven't posted in a while, but until recently our Chameleon has been doing well. He is a 2-year-old panther chameleon, on a staple diet of black soldier fly larvae, occasionally crickets, hornworms, silkworms. After his last shed we noticed that he was closing his left eye. While he will use it occasionally, most of the time it remains closed and somewhat sunken in. His right eye appears fine and not concave. We have also noticed that he has gotten more lethargic over the past few days. His appetite is still good and from his stool it appears he is hydrated.

Anyone have any suggestions? If its a checkup with the vet, anyone have recommendations for a good one in central Florida?

Personally i would try some people saline eyeball wash and a q-tip etc. He may just have a wee bit of shed stuck, which is normally the case. Sometimes they can get it out themselves by having a long mist and they will send the eyeball through the spin cycle.

But, closed eye is never a good thing. If its sealed its just going to get worse and not be able to drain. Its gotta get open and drain some how.

Apologies for the delayed response. We took him into the vet 10/13, he got his blood drawn and they gave him some antibiotic eyedrops. His blood showed ok calcium, liver, etc, but showed a high uric acid level, so he is also getting allopurinol. He has been eating and drinking on his own. I have attached some pictures of his eyes as well as the cage itself. He is in the 24x24x48 screen cage, 24" UVB 5 bulb, mistking automister. Live pothos plants. His diet is mainly BSFL, which he gets 15 or so every other day. We mix it up with crickets and silkworms every so often. We were not dusting the BSFL, except for the 1st and 15th with reptivite. Basking area is right around 89.

The outside picture is of his left eye. To me it seems like there is something wrong his pupil or iris.
