Head bobbing

Will a male head bob at another male? I was taking my chams outside and my male nosy be( 10 months) started to head bob at my male ambanja who is about 2-3 months old. Has anyone had this happen or could my ambanja be a female?

Mine does it at me sometimes. Sometimes I think it might me a territorial "warning" type thing. I could be wrong though. :)

My bigger male did it towards my smaller male once, then he noticed it wasn't a female he was bobbing towards, then started to get my territorial.

Oh ok. Here are some tail pics just incase. What do you guys think?

Head bobbing is used by a cham to claim terrritory. If he sees another Cham he may bob his head to show a sign of him owning the territory. Colours are the best judgement. If he is doing the head bobbing whilst he is bright coloured then he is most probably 'displaying' to what he believes to be a female. If he is his usual colour and head bobbing he is more probably just telling everyone he owns his territory.

hope this makes it clear! :)

I would hazard a guess at her being a Female also..... but a bit early to tell

No its not. There is no question that is a male.

Many males will display and even try to breed anything that looks like a chameleon (male/female, different species, your hand, etc.). It is possible your male just got excited or he could have been trying to establish dominance.
