He needs to eat the damn moth! Lol This one end up dying. I have a few more pupating. He's ate them before. Just being a jerk this time.

Well for about a week, he was being soooo picky as to what he eats. He turned down everything. I figured out the only thing he'd touch is butterworms. So I bumped his temps up by a few degrees, cut out the butterworms. Now he's hungry enough that he's inhaling everything

That's good to hear! I just hatched 3 moths last week and mine devoured all the three at the same sitting. He had only ever had one before but now I know he likes them so much I'm gonna start turning more. I've got one more about to hatch and then 3 worms that are full grown so I just stuck them in the same tub. I have a question though. I had one more that was pupating but eventually it just died. Well actually two more that died. One turned really gross and was clearly dead, like turned black and had goo come out of it. But the other one didn't turn black and didn't seem to rot. It just kind of shrank into nothing. I picked it up with my tongs and it just felt like nothing was in there anymore. Any thoughts on why it would do that or what would cause it?

I would just say natural selection! Odds are, some moths will die and it will be a given. Not all of them will make it. But there might be something you're doing wrong. How are you keeping your moths? I keep my set up simple. They're all kept in a clear, 6 inch tall container. With paper towels on the bottom to hold moisture. I mist them every couple days. I have a clamp lamp overhead with a 6500k bulb that's on 12 hours a day. So unless you don't have a good light source over them, I couldn't think of anything else that would make them die. The one that was black and gooey could have been punctured and just rotted away.

I actually don't have any light on them. They're in a a very shallow sealed tuperware box with a bunch of hole in the lid. There's cocout fiber on the bottom for moisture. I've also used that to make waxworms moths and all of those were okay. I Tried This Once Before With A Hornworm And Just Left It In With My Pacman frog. I ended up having to cut it out of its shell. I do keep them right next to my chams cage though so I guess they get some light, it's just not directly over them.

Have you tried just letting a moth go in his cage as oppose to hand feeding.
