Well as some of you may know i work at petco and i noticed today that the 4inch REPTISUN 5.0 uvb tubes were on sale for $10 because we arent carrying that size anymore! I immediately bought the 2 that were on the shelf plus i got my 20% employee discount so $8 a piece, NOT TO SHABBY. Anyways, i was wondering if 2 5.0 bulbs will have a 10% uvb output? I have a 48inch reflective hood my mom let me have out of one of her horse barns so i plan on using it with the 2 bulbs in it. What do you guys suggest?

i think one will be fine. i had 2 18" ones and i changed it to one.
my guy turned dark and seemed like an over exposure of uvb.
i vote one.

Howdy,

I like the idea of using one 48" Reptisun 5.0 tube and a std. "daylight" 48" tube occupying the other socket. You'll find tubes like Chroma 50, Chroma 75 or their equivalents to be useful as daylight tubes. Since more UVB is not necessarily better, having that single 5.0 tube around 12" away from his basking site will be good.

I have a 48inch hood that I have across my two veileds cages. I use one 5.0 bulb and one regular full spectrum bulb...works well for the chameleons and their plants:)

Ok cause i have 2 48inch normal florescent bulbs so it sounds like i should have one uvb bulb and leave the normal bulb in as well. Sound good? I'll also have a basking 100w basking bulb hanging creating a basking spot of about 90 degrees so the plants will receiving all sorts of lighting.
