Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care? He is a 3 month old male veiled chameleon. How long have you had him? Are you sure of the sex? Can we get pictures of his enclosure and him please? (The back of its feet)
Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon? I have not handled him since we brought him home, I will let him accommodate to his new home for 2-3 weeks before I start trying to be friends with him. I waited a month before starting to handle and form a bond and even then my cham still doesn’t like me very much.
Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders? Currently Im only feeding him small crickets. He only eats around 5 everytime I feed him, which is once in the morning and once in the late afternoon/early evening. Currently gut loading my feeders with mango and kale. I switch it up every other day. So at this age they should be eating as much as they want and I’ll attach a gutloading and feeder chart. Also I need your supplements you didn’t put anything?
Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking? I use a hand mister to mist his cage twice a day for 2-4 minutes. Once in the morning after I turn his lights on, and once before I turn them off. Yes, he does drink.
Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites? This is my current issue, he has not pooped yet haha. So I haven’t been able to get a fecal test. So when I purchased mine I didn’t see poo for a couple days since she didn’t eat the first few days. After she settled in and everything I started seeing poo on plants, the floor, her feeding bowl, so sometimes the poop hides but I’d get a fecal test done (once you find poo) and a check up to see what’s the issue. (Experienced chameleon vet) Since he has no poo get a check up there may be something else wrong
History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you. We just got him Friday afternoon and he is so far very happy and healthy. He’s very active and has not changed any darker colors, just his normal bright green. He eats and drinks.
Cage Info:
Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions? Its a reptibreeze medium screen enclosure. It needs to be a 2x2x4 or bigger this cage will not work once he starts growing and getting older.
Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule? I’m using a linear T5 HO linear 5.0 UVB bulb along with a regular 65w house bulb with a flukers heat lamp hood. During the day his basking temp is 80-85 and the cage is around 70 at night. The temperature should be 80 max.
Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity? His humidity during the day is a little high ranging from 45-55%, and 70% at night. I use a zoomed digital thermometer and hygrometer. Humidity should be 40-50% and at night up to 100%.
Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind? Yes, Im using golden pothos, ficus trees, and tropical ferns. Remember all live plants only
Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor? My cage is located in my bedroom which is very quiet and the only traffic is me. The top of the cage is taller than me, so a little taller than 5 ft off of the ground.
Location - Where are you geographically located? Florida.
Current Problem - The current problem you are concerned about. He hasnt pooped yet since we’ve had him. Wondering if he just has the new home jitters. He should hopefully start pooping but a check up with an experienced chameleon vet would be great.
