Of course it was in a dumpster its a disposable pet when they get sick you just throw them away and buy another fir about 40 bucks its cheaper then goin to a vet! This may sound sarcastic to you guys but i bet there's quite a few people that think that way! Even worse they can't even respect the animal enough to humanely " dont know how to spell " uthinize

Yes I live not far from Brad, he is a great guy and I have seen his chams, they are gorgeous! He has been a great source for cham help. I will call my vet about the t-mycin for her eyes. I'm still listening to everyone's opinion.

I have actually seen something like that before. I had a male Vield chameleon that had the same kind of swelling happen to him. What allegedly happened to my Vield was he got a cricket spur stuck in his eye and was swollen for a while, I went to a vet and they gave me an eye ointment and the swelling slowly went away. However that eye on my chameleon never made a total recovery, he live a long time after the injury.

I hope you can cure him!

Brett has talked to me about this animal and I have not been much help. I am skeptical of Fitzgerald's diagnosis and think a second opinion would be a good idea.
My first thought was that this was the result of the chameleon being left out in the hot sun in a glass enclosure, but it does appear to be an infection and I have not seen anything like it before, in person or on the forums.
Brett, did I refer you to Dr. Cohn or Dr. Drummond?

I think I get a reduced office visit rate there, so you might want to call me anyway.

I can't believe someone can do this to an animal!in this country (U.K) it drives me crazy that you need to have a licence to own a dog but any other animal is fare game the person who done this should have the same done to their eyes,evil i know but there you go!!!

Thank you to everyone in trying to help with this mystery. After a month of battling Reese the veiled chameleon has passed away. Last week she stopped eating and became dehydrated, so we rushed her to the vet and she had gotten a shot of fluids to help her get better, I got her home and set her up in a hospital tank for comfort and by the time I got home that afternoon from work she had died. I want to thank Brad especially with helping through all of this. Reese fought but was passed the point of no return, we'll miss her, but she is no longer suffering. It angers me that there are people out there that mistreat animals, but I know there are people like us who are here to help and learn about our non human friends.

hi, sorry to hear about your cham. i have two veiled beauties and both recently laid eggs about a week later one developed an eye infection which looks exactly like in your pic. took her to vet and it turned out the source of infection is a cut in her mouth, the vet gave her a shot of baytril and i've got to give her some orally for a week. so fingers crossed. these are my first chameleons and wondered if these problems are common.
