I was researching.g buying a mister and all that's available here is the zoo med habba mist.I haven't seen these mentioned are they any good.I was toying with the idea of making one.I was thinking a windscreen washer bottle and pump.then a battery charger for a 12v supply with a timer on the plug.all id need are nozzle that would produce a fine mist.I know most people will say just buy one and save the hassle but I'm just wondering has anyone else done it

The haba mist etc. does what they are supposed to, but they dosen't last for very long. Some ppl have them running for 1 month then they break, some 8 months then they break. So they are not very reliable, and they cost about the same as MistKing or AquaZamp does.

I've tried to build my own misting system before I bought a MistKing, and I will tell you, I regret it. I'm a engineer so I thought "this will be easy", I was wrong.

I bought:
Tubing
Had a hard time to find good nozzels, to fit good etc.
12v water pump, 75 PSI. since I only was going to run 1 or 2 nozzles.
and all the other stuff you need, but you get the idea.

When I had built it all together and was gonna test run it, it barely worked. I hooked it up, ran with it for 3 days, then the pump stoped. I returned it and got new one, same thing. I went for a more expensive pump, not much of an improvement.

I had the same thoughts as you, and everywhere you saw " buy one, save you the struggle and money, it wont work." And I thought "it cant be that hard, they probably just fail", and so did I. So my reply is, by a MistKing or AquaZamp. It's worth the money, and they last. If you cant find anyone close to you, contact Marty at MistKing or Mark at JungleFrog(UK).
Hope this help! Good luck if you decide to build one :)

Thanks for the advice bunke.ill try mark at jungle frog I'm guessing he will ship outside the UK.I have all the necessities for my DIY mister at home except nozzle so I might give it a go all the same just to put my mind at ease.I don't think is be happy unless I tried but I'm not expecting great results.ill probably just end up going for the misting further down the line

I bought a MistKing and I love it! That being said, I am in the process of creating a rain system as opposed to a misting system. It is for a FR room I have been working on for a loooong time. I am using 1/2 inch CPVC piping, 18 landscaping nozzles used for watering plants, and the help of a plumber to connect it to my tankless water heater. It is always a lot easier to buy a system, but sometimes there are those of us that just have to see if we can create the pictures we have in our heads! For better or for worse. . .
