harmfulness of wood stain

I am going to free range my chameleon and I have some wood that is going to come in to contact with the water from the mister I want to put this waterproof stain on the wood. My chameleon will come into contact with it. Is this harmful to him?

I would use zero voc stain and make sure it has a week or so to cure.

You can also use regualr stain, and put a minimum of 2 coats of water based seal. What kind of wood is it? Some woods will absorb the stain more than others.

I couldn't tell you what kind of wood it is :/ it was just some wooden posts that I got from home depot. The wood wasn't finished or anything so I would think it should soak it up pretty good I can let it sit for awhile though before he will actually go in it.
