Handling my Jackson Chameleon

People say don't handle the Jackson chameleon to often but when me or my husband are holding him he is a beautiful green Tric is not turining black at all. So he not getting stressed out is it ok to handle him daily?

I've always gone by the rule of thumb that if he walks willingly onto your hand then it's find to handle him. It's when you push him into your hand and they puff up stresses them.

Nah your all good, just make sure you wash your hands before you hold him and immediately after. So you won't pass germs to him and so he won't pass germs to you

I'm gona guess as long as the sanitizer is dried and absorbed you should be good. I'm only saying so because that's what the vendors at the reptile show I attend do. They keep things so clean there!!!

It really depends on their personality if they take right to their new environment or if they hide and it take days to adjust. You lucked out with a good one. My one panther I've had for almost two months now and he's a good eater and drinks fine but he's terrified of people. He'll rotate his whole body around his vine if he sees someone coming, he's such a character

I think mine likes the fact that i let him go all over my bed whenever he wants when he is done he hangs out next to me he has a really good personalty and my husband wants a panther really bad lol

Yeah some of them don't like to be in their cage, just make sure they get enough time under their UVB light or take him outside. Natural sunlight is the best thing for them! Mine doesnt do much when I first take him outside he just lays flat and absorbs as much of the sun rays as he can lol

That was my plan to take him outside as much as i can when its till cold out but soon it will be winter then it the uvb lights for him and he is in front of a window :) most of the time

Just watch the draft coming thru the window seals once winter hits. I've heard an hour each day is fantastic but if you can only hangout for 20 minutes or so it's better than nothing. I want to build a viv outside for my chams next summer.

If you do put his cage outside to get sunlight that's fine also just make sure he has a place to hide for shade

I wish my jacksons chameleon was like that, mine hates me and will not let me hold him, idk how ill ever get him out of there for cleaning and things because he refuses to let me even reach out for him to grab my hand...i guess ill never experience holding this one

@Katacara the OP Christi ecollins87 posted last in 2012 or so...you need to ask ChamoNate.

@ChamoNate this is an old thread...you need to start your own not tack on to an old one...as you can see it confuses people.
Go to the forum you want to post on by clicking on the word forum in the green bar near the top of the page....once there select the forum you think you should post under and click on it...then you'll see near the middle of the page a blue shape with the words post new thread...click on that and follow the instructions.
