Handling chameleon.

Hey guys I know I've seen a lot on here about how chameleons shouldn't be handled often.

I've owned Loki my jackson since Friday. Every time I go to open his cage (which I do at least 3 times a day to spray off his plants and feed him) he reaches for me like he wants to get out...
If I put my hand up to him he will happily climb up my arm.
So I have been handling him at least once a day.
He doesn't seem to get stressed out just climbing all over. He stays a neon green color.

I took him outside today to climb on my shrubs (I live in Texas it was ~80 and I wanted to give him natural sunlight). He turned a really weird marble color I have not seen him do before.
I got concerned after a few minutes and brought him back inside and out him back in his cage.

Should I refrain from taking him outside for a while?
Also with how he acts when I open the cage, should I allow him to get out once a day; or should I stop? I don't want to cause a health problem.

Consider yourself lucky for having such a nice chameleon. If he wants out let him out. Let him get use to you. I wish mine were that friendly. My panther tries to bite my finger off and my veiled squeels like 4 year old in kmart being spanked. :D

If your chameleon wants to come out, you are very lucky to have a chameleon that required no training for handling! Handle him as much as you want as long as he still gets the proper water, light, and food. If you have him sitting on top of your head inside all day, he isn't going to get much uvb. That marble color is him soaking up some rays! Means he's lovin' it! You have nothing to worry about, just make sure when he's outside and it's that hot he has the opportunity to get shade and water.:D:D:D

Your Jackson sounds like a friendly guy! I just got my baby veiled 4 days ago. I'm trying to get her used to me by taking her out every day but shes a little territorial in her cage, once she is out she has loads of fun. :)

Ahh thanks so much!!

That's interesting that he turns marbled like that under real sunlight, under the basking bulb he just stays a solid dark green!

Never underestimate the power of the sun, it can bring out some colors you would never see on an indoors only chameleon.
