Gutloading

I am new to the cham world and had a question on how to make my own gutload :) I recently bought some collard and mustard greens along with some other really good veggies for crickets, but I'm not sure how to use the collard or mustard greens? Do I use the whole thing( as in the leaves and stalks) or just part of it? I am going to put the ingredients into this mini food processor I have but want to make sure I'm doing it right :)

I am currently using Fluker's cricket feed (orange cubes) for my gutloading and I'm sure it's not enough. I just want to make sure my new cham, Echo, doesn't turn up like my first one, Dano, did... any ideas would be great :)

It depends on how you want to use it. If you are going to put it in the big bin with all the crickets, then you can only use it "fresh" if you also retrieve it the next day. It will get skunky if you don't take it out.

If you want to make a dry gutload then you need to dry the greens and grind them up. That's a big process.

The easiest way is probably to use a commercial cricket feed for maintenance. Cull out tomorrow's feeders and let them gorge on the banquet of collard greens and oranges and whatever for 24 hours before feeding them off.

Collard green leafs are HUGE! So, you will definitely need to tear those up whatever you decide to do with them. I bought them for the guinea pigs once and both of them were standing on one leaf chomping away.

Just throw the greens in with the crickets. Use your processor to chop and blend ingredients together if you like, then use within a couple days or freeze.
go easy on the collards, as they can by high in Oxalic Acid.
