Well before you were getting rid of them cause u had to https://www.chameleonforums.com/bye-everyone-91239/ . And now just cuz ur tired of them..
Please play out your commitment. It's responsible.

Yea the problem is ur tired of taking care of them is what it sounds like. My first post was rather blunt I'm not gonna start an argument just think its irresponsible.

In defense of Reptileman, you do contradict yourself. Sorry. You do say "due to problems" in the other thread, and on this thread you say "because I was getting tired of it" Those statements are two completely different reasons. It really does not make any sense.

Well, benefit of the doubt, maybe he just don't want to talk about his problems on here. Welcome back Joseph :)

I would say he is being responsible by finding new homes. There is no reason to judge.

I absoutely agree with that, but I think you should be honest. If you no longer have the desire to be a keeper any more, then great and that is your choice. If you are having problems in your life and can no longer be a keeper, then those are circumstances out of your control. I personally was not judging the op in that sense.

and you are right David, no one should have to go into detail about personal problems in their life, as it is really none of our business. Alls I am saying is be honest in your statements. On that note, Joseph no hard feelings and I am glad you are deciding to continue on with the forum and cham keeping.

I appologize to the OP for me being a grouch. I don't understand how people just get tired of a pet.. but its human nature and u did do the responsible thing by rehoming them . but ontop of that I'm glad u decided to keep ur oldest baby boy. I know it means alot to him. And I'm glad ull stay a member here

ah, we all say things sometimes we wanna take back later. I agree with you though, and my pets are with me until "death due us part"! I found a cockatiel down here at a golf course. Have had her about 9 years now and had NO idea they could live until 35 years of age! I might of thought twice about bringing her home...lol

ya well i did get tired of it, every day i have to go in to may game room outside get 20 large crickets throw ten in my females cage kill the other ten get a step ladder use tweezers and put the crickets in the males mouth because his tongue doesnt work and after that i go back downstairs and get more baby crickets that i have to give to my baby female whos a picky/skinny chameleon and after all that i have to feed my tortoise, then after that i have to feed the bugs, then after that i have to finally feed my fish and all the corals in the tank so if you dont think this is a lot for a 14 year old please say so, i know its nothing compared to what breeders have to do but ive been doing this for 4 years again its not a lot but i got tired. And i literally pay for everything myself i have to buy lights food for everyone sometimes my mom helps me out if she sees i dont have enough to buy things sometimes so shell get them for me sucks too because then i dont get money for myself. cant buy the game or anything i wanted cause im stuck paying for supplies. so i hope you guys can see where im coming from and not start any arguments here

Welcome to life :) wait for work and children! U learned a good life lesson. And 4 years is along time for someone of ur age to do so much reliably everyday with minimal help. I can do.wat u want just try and rehome ur babies here so another member can take good care and u can he updated :) mainly ur man with the damaged tounge.. an inexperienced keeper won't fair well with the care required on that one. What kind of tortises are we talking here? Why isn't ur food right next to your animals? Why do u have to kill the crickets. Just use feeding tongs he cam still chew I would imagine.

Having been in your shoes when I was younger I understand. I worked at a pet store when I was 13 and literally all of my earnings went towards taking care of my animals not to mention free time for quite awhile.

I think you are doing the right thing by re-homing those you aren't as attached to so you can find a balance in your life. It is an important lesson in growing up to learn your limitations and you didn't do what so many less responsible youths would do in simply neglecting them when you got tired of them.

From personal experience this will give you an advantage in your adult life by learning responsibility and how to research animal husbandry lends itself to so many other areas as you get older and go to college you will find that where others are struggling you already have developed the skills to do the research and stick to it.

I do agree with Carol though for myself it is until death do us part now that I am an adult. But when I was younger I made several mistakes and had to give away several animals I found myself unable to care for.

I hope you find that balance and are able to carry on with Chameleons. The skill is time and money management and it sounds like you're getting good at it. I predict we will see you here for more than the next few years as you find yourself in college wanting to keep even more chameleons :)

im giving the baby female to my cousin but she doesnt know anything about there care so im gonna need to give them care sheets and tell them what supplies they need ect. the adult female im trading something with another member im keeping the big male because i really dont trust anyone with his tongue condition

I belive the forums name should be changed to general husbandry as opposed to general discussion to help with this ridiculously common mistake. IMO.

To the OP. print our care sheets supplied here and make sure u offfer a lot of help and maybe get ur cousins parents on board with helping. A 12 year old alone may find it a bit of a challenge to meet all chameleons daily needs alone IMO
