my veiled chameleon is the grumpiest I've ever seen him today! Got him out yesterday, he explored at bit & was fine.
Today, I took him out to clean the cage-he wasn't exactly thrilled but came along willingly enough.
Then this afternoon, I figured he'd like a little explore- I was wrong! He swelled, hissed and gave me a nice view down his throat. Its the first time I've feared for my fingers! I was quite impressed by the spots and stripes he produced though. I quickly decided to respect his wish to stay put lol
Now I'm wondering if this is an age thing, from bits & pieces I've read here it seems they get grumpier as they grow, and this certainly seems to have happened over the past week or so. He's now 4 months. Also, I've been cooking with garlic and onion, and although I washed my hands & can't smell it on my hands, could he? I wouldn't be surprised if garlic offended him. If that's the case that might explain why Nibbler the hamster was particularly keen to chew on me too!
Of course I understand he could just be having an angry day, or grow up to be a moody little sod. I'm just intrigued. I know that when my uni friends went to Spain on fieldwork & held a wild chameleon, he took a disliking to a girl wearing coconut sun lotion.
