growth

I know every cham grows at a different rate. My veiled is a little big larger than my thumb right now and is 2.5 months. But when I see other veileds that are only 2 months older seem so much larger. Do they really grow that fast??

Some are huge at 2 months, others are smaller. I've seen 3-4 month olds that are the same size as other 6 month olds. It just depends.

Yes they do grow fast. It would be good to get a digital scale and keep track of it.

I had two veileds that were tiny when I got them and never grew but a couple grams. Not knowing any better since they were my first I just thought they grew very slow. They eventually died as there was a problem with them. So please keep tabs on how much they are growing and maybe post what they weigh each week or so to see if this sounds like the weight they should be. I wish I had done so... then I might have realized there was a problem with mine sooner.

That sounds like a good idea, I weigh my bird to make sure she's healthy too. Is there a chart I can find to make sure he's on the right track or that'll tell me what is healthy weight gain?

I've never had any of mine grow as quickly as some of the chams you seen on here, but I don't let mine eat 30 crickets every day so that may have something to do with it. Growing at a nice, paced rate will help their bones keep up with the growth so they aren't always thirsting for more calcium. It's probably better for them in general. Some people have 4-5 month olds that are as big as adults and that just doesn't strike me as super healthy... But maybe that's just me.

I don't know of a chart. But if someone else does I'm sure they will let you now. However if you let us know how much he weighs this week and then next.... people who have small veileds could let you know if the weight gain sounds about normal.

I log all of mine weekly... but my veiled I have now came to me at almost 4 months. He is currently 4 1/2 months and weighs 71 grams... A month ago he was 50 grams.
