Growth on Titus's eye

HI,

I was wondering if any of you have seen anything like this before. Titus has a growth(bubble) on the right front on his eye. I have been intouch with the breeder and am waiting for a reply. I bought him from a sponsor on this site. Any ideas as to what it is?

Has anyone seen anything like this before or is it just something that is there?. It doesn't effect the eye at all. Any comments?

I think it is just the eye socket itself. I don't think I would call it a growth. Just my opinion of what I see. Anyone else like to chime in here?

Looks swollen, could be anything from an infection to just an irritation. Not sure what to suggest, other than perhaps a saline rinse.

I think it looks a little weird. I have no clue what it could be, I'm still new to chams. I see what she's talking about though.

Thanks to all who responded :)

I am hoping that it is nothing, but am a little concerned. Syn, how do you do a saline rinse on a cham??

I am thinking that maybe I need to send him back to the breeder. It is not getting any better and he has had it since I received him last Wednesday. I am disappointed that I already have issues:(

Instead of making him go through another shipping maybe the breeder will pay for a vet visit. It could be an infection that needs to be treated.

The breeder probably will not pay for vet expenses, but instead would offer a replacement if the animal is within it's healthy guarantee period.

Saline rinses are just washing the eyes out with some saline, kind of like using eye drops.. make sure it's pure saline.

Thanks Jastate09 for commenting. I really don't think that they would cover a vet bill. But I am hoping that they will give me a replacement. (although I do really like Titus)

Syn, Thanks for your reply and I think that you are right on the vet thing. I noticed this problem the evening after I received him and have notified them and sent pics. I was told that he has a 15 day health guarantee when I purchased him. Just waiting for a response for they have been out of town. I'm sad that he may have to go back to the breeder, but if that is what is best, then so be it:(

I was wondering today if you had head anything back.... I see you are still waiting. I hope that thing work out for you. Maybe they will allow you to keep him and send you a replacement... that would be great! But I just hope it works out for you, I know how exited you were to finally get your guy! Good luck & take care!

Thanks Gensen, No I haven't heard anything back, I think that they may be out of the country until this weekend. It's hard being patient, it's not one of my strong points:rolleyes:. Yes, this has taken some of the excitement out of my first chameleon experience, but that's ok I'm sure this will all work out somehow. Thanks again:)

Hi!

I am still a beginner, but I don't really see anything unusual in the pictures. I had the same experience with Pete, my 3,5 month old veiled. I have a picture of him from 8th of august. On that picture it looks like he also has a bump in his eye or under his eyelid. But after all it was just his eyelid or eyesocket.

Keep me posted...

Keep me posted... I would really like to know how things turn out for you and Titus. I know waiting when you have something going on like that and your unsure is tough but... anticipate joyfully. Maybe things will turn out for the best! I sure hope so!

HI Miss Machine, Thanks for your reply. I see what you mean and no this is different. There is actual puffiness around his eye terret that causes it to stick out alot more than it should, plus it is a different color. Love your cham, he looks alot like Titus.

Hi Gensen, I did hear from the breeder about 1/2 hour ago and we are working on two different scenerios. I was told to give him some Reptaid and see what happens. If it doen't get better, he will be going back to the breeder:( Thanks for keeping track of my dilemma. It helps to have support:)

Well, I am happy to hear they contacted youback and are trying to work something out... did they say what they think it could be?

that sucks, i wouldnt be able to return my guy. repti-aid... i wonder how that will work. i thought that was more for sick animals. there are quite a few experts on this site that you should ask..

i'm sure one of the long time breeders or chris anderson could help you in the light of some information

tdotcham, Thanks for your reply. The breeder that I bought Titus from suggested Reptaid. It is used to fight an infection, if there is one. I have some that we give to our Bearded Dragon. I bought him from a breeder who is a sponsor here on the forum. I feel that I have nothing to lose, so thought I'd give it a try and see what happens. If nothing gets better, he will go back to the breeder. :(
