Growth hormone in insects

Is it true that growth hormones are used for mealworms and superworms? If true does this have an Ill affect on our animals or is it broken down and not transferred to our chams? Is there other insects out there besides these worms and should I avoid the so called GIANT mealworms and XTRA large superworms? Just curious because I was going to breed mealworms and as I was searching for pointers a couple sites said the giant mealworms were sterile because they were given these hormones to prolong pupation.

I know the giant meal worms are given something not to go int the next stage.
Just rember to nuke your oats to kill out the mites or what ever the tiny white bugs are. I had bad luck with bugco.com. I was getting the worms from them and got a mite infestation from them and 40% of the worms made deformed breaders.

Yes avoid the "Giant mealworm" but You need not be concerned with most mealworms and superworms. Especially once you are breeding your own, you will know exactly what they are fed.

If you keep the substrate dry you will have less likelyhood of mites

Does timberline give there giant mealworms GH? The reason I ask is I have about 100 beetles that came from giant mealworms.

Ask Timerline.
Doesnt matter though, any larva from your beetles are unlikely to be effected.
