Thinking of raising my own because thay are expensive & healthy. Do they really need a plant so the moths can lay it's eges on it and does it need/have to be a tomato plant or will any planr work? Do they need durt or will just a box work? Once there in the cocoon/pupa is there any special care? what temp should they be in? Is total darkness & heat a factor? Any tips is appreciated. Thx

If you want to raise worms you might want to consider silkworms over hornworms, I am doing both ( thanks to piglets guides ) but the silkworm is far better as a food source and the horn worms are nasty critters!!!!!!!! If you saw piglets guide you will see what I am talking about and also there is lots of info on the nutritional value of both, just a thought!

I believe they become toxic by eating tomato leaves, kind of like how captive dart frogs aren't poisonous.

Well I got the dirt and even helped them by making biginer holes for them and they have burried down as of yesterday, I will waite a week before I check on them. Thx again to all with you help and helpful info.
