Hello! I'm rather new to the world of keeping chameleons, and have been doing research into the environments that they can be kept in. In the final stages I building, I haven't been able to find out if it is safe to grow plants directly within the enclosure. I have a list of safe plants which I will provide. The main idea of this is to take up the extra water from the rain system, and to allow waste in the bottom to decompose. Hiding is a given and it would be easy to use a potted version of these plants, I just thought it would be a cool idea. Please correct any flaws in this plan.
The plant list:
• aspen (populus tremuloides)
• asparagus fern (asparagus plumosus or a. Setaceus)
• birch (betula)
• Tahitian bridal veil (tripogandra multiflora)
• cast-iron plant (aspidistra elatior)
• cissus/kangaroo vine/grape ivy (cissus Antarctica)
Thanks for the help!
