Growing Phoenix Worms

I was on another reptile site, for beardies, and came across an article about growing phoenix worms. The article recommends putting them in a little bin like a kritter keeper with some soft fruit/veg or baby food on organic bread. dumping the worms in, keeping them warm and letting them grow for a week or so. There is a picture showing a worm almost an inch in length. I was just wondering if anyone has tried this and if they think it is worth the trouble.

I think there are some threads on growing them - From what i remember they aren't hard but the food you give them ends up stinking - but they are great recyclers
