Gravid or not.?

So, I have a six to eight month female veiled and I have suspicion that she mightbe laying eggs soon. But I'm not sure. Her attitude has gotten worse, I can't even go next to her cage or put food in there with out her turning to her stressed colors. She's getting a little belly, but that's the only place she seems to be gaining weight. And I've noticed her at the bottom of her cage once. I read that they cant lay eggs unless they have yellow/mustard spots and all she has are white spots. I dont have pictures right now, as I'm not home. From the information can anyone tell if she is gravid or not.?

Get a laying bin together and put it in with her. She'll dig if she needs to lay. Or if you can hold her check in her hindquarters if you can feel and eggs. They feel like mini marbles.

Am I supposed to put a little laying bin on the bottom, and then once she starts digging put her in the big one.? I'm on my phone so haven't looked at the article yet. The big bin will need her lights and everything, right.?

yes. if you cnat fit a big on in her cage. do a smal one so she can start to show you she needs to lay.

posting pics of her would be the biggest help though.

Awesome. It might be hard for me to get a pic. she hates that too...
It looks kind of lumpy like there should be eggs, but I didn't feel anything the little bit of time she let me.touch her before she got to stressed....

I was told that females cant lay eggs until they get the yellow spots. this means that they are mature.
so i would assume, that no spots means no eggs.

That's what I thought, but Elizadots mentioned above that many people have reported gravid females without the colors. So....I don't know.

It's a great idea to put a laying bin into her cage now so that it is available to her when she needs it regardless if she is spotted up or not. I keep one in with my females at all times. It is unlikely she will show yellow spots if she hasn't been bred with a male. They show up almost immediately once a breeding takes.

Pictures.

First one is her a week or two ago.

The rest are her last night.

They said eight months when I got her so around nine and a half months now. She is small...

Do you think she has any signs of mbd.? The owner before me had her a couple months and no uvb bulbs or supplements.

I think shes a bit younger than that. id say maybe 6-7 months old.
I dont see any signs of mbd. though she could do with a bit of fattening.

How could I fatten her up.?

a waxworm or two a day. some hornworms.
I would feed her a waxworm or two a day, until she gets her big girl colors in.

ANd dont let your family talk you out of keeping her. THe egg thing is not a big deal. Promise.
and If you want, I can give you my cell number for any problems you might have. The only reason you see all these horror stories on egg laying is cuz no one posts much that they had a successful lay.
