hi this was just a thought and may help me with my female cham but i no that if a female is showing receptive colours she will mate so if she sees a male she dosent mind and if she is gravid and sees a male she will not like it and gape and so on so what if i printed out a life size picture of a receptive male if males do have receptive colours and showed it to her would she be nothered if she was receptive and a male came to her or would she frwak out regardless wether she was gravid or not

i am asking this as mine is showing or what i belive to be receptive colours dosent mind being mated but iv also been told these may just be her adult colours she is 5 month coming 6 and this would help me tell if she is gravid or not

any thoughts on this matter as i dont want to do it without peoples opinion

Your female is too young to mate. Wait until she's at least a year old. Her body will need the calcium that the eggs will take away up until she's finished growing which would be around one year of age.

yes u say she is too young to lay eggs but she has stopped eating and is showing receotive colours so can chams still go through the process of not eating and having receptive colours which a prior to laying eggs an still not lay eggs as she is too young

is this possible i must know to put my mind at ease

my cham sometimes stopped eating when receptive for small periods of time. but didnt stop when about to lay. Imo stop worrying. If she has a lay bin in there leave her alone and dont keep looking at her. You will only be able o tell if she is gravid with a real mae cham a pic wont work. Just leaver her be for now and even if she es try to escape it may not be her trying to find a nest site she may not like her temps of somthing

She may very well lay an infertile clutch witout being mated. The infertile clutch will not drain their body of calcium the way a fertile clutch does. You need to cut back on feeding to 6 feeders or so (depending on size)everyother day.....worms even less. Drop her temps to 80 or 81 tops.

Just because she's stopped eating does not mean for sure she is going to lay a clutch. She could be sick. There's many reasons as to why a cham stops eating. I would recommend a vet visit and an X-ray. That's the only for sure way to know what's wrong with her.

If you put/have a suitable place in the cage for her to dig in then it shouldn't matter if she is gravid or not...she should dig if she needs to lay eggs...as long as your husbandry has been good and she doesn't have anything wrong with her reproductive system.

Showing her a male when/if she's not gravid may put her into a reproductive cycle.

how is she too young too mate if she is older than 5 months and showing receptive colours? it would be neglegence and absolutely terrible TO mate her if thats what you are talking about. but if i read correctly, the guy just wants to run a "test"
