Is it normal for a female to be wandering around on the floor of the enclosure? I dont know if she is gravid or not but she is pretty fat. I was hoping I could catch her digging or something but no luck so I have no idea thanks.

I do not have any experience with pygmys.
but, as far as i know, you should not bother a gravid chameleon that is trying to dig.
the fact that you are watching her digging might cause her to not dig at all.

not really watching her its just everytime i go in to mist the cage I notice she is walking around on the floor Just saying that it would be cool to see it happen though that all I need to know where she digs so i can remove the eggs.

Hi, My pygmy just laid her eggs 10 days ago. 4 by the way, incubating in the closet. She wandered around a lot and everytime she saw me looking she headed straight up the nearest branch. She did dig a few test holes before she settled on the final one. I couldn't see her, all I could see were leaves moving, she was under them digging. She did a really good job covering them up too. I eventually covered her cage with fabric so she didn't feel spied on so much. She was very big when she finally laid them!
You can see the eggs in my other thread "New pygmy eggs" Good luck!:)

I am wondering how deep is the hole and is it noticeable when they have dug? I am gone about 12 hours a day and have no idea how to know when or if she has layed or where for that matter. Thanks. Any help is welcome. I dont even know if she is gravid maybe shes just fat. lol. I have only had her for a few weeks and i think she was housed with males.

if ur gone most of the day ur not even gunna notice that eggs have been laid... ive gotten into the routine of cleaning out the cage every 3-4 weeks. One time i found 3 eggs in one nesting site and 5 eggs in another . I got 2 females, 1 just laid 4 more last week, and the other just lays them like crazy so i gotta check frequently. I got 13 eggs right now with 3 hatchings from 2 different clutches running around at the moment. to sum it up they lay like crazy and u probably have eggs in ur enclosure right now =P

BTW the 1 that laid eggs last week dug under abunch of leaves and laid right there so they could be hidden very well
