Grasshoppers

I went collecting today, I was surprised at the number of hoppers this year. I would say I saw 5-10 hoppers per sq. ft. It must be a good year for them.

We have dozens of grasshopper species readily available where I live in Florida. I hear such conflicting advice on feeding wild caught insects based on the potential for parasites. I have heard that cicadas and moths are ok because they emerge as adult for such a short time and don't acquire parasites. Is this true?

Ive fed hoppers & katydids for yrs without issues. The only worry is finding a safe place free of pesticides. I keep all my catch for at least 24 hrs before I feed them off. If they have been subjected to spray they would die well before the 24 hr mark. Jmp exp.
