Grain mite problem! Please help :(

How do I get rid of grain mites and where do I buy anti mite paper?

My superworm container was full of mites, I emptied the container out and put all the superworms into fresh new oats (I either should have washed them all off or dumped them all out completely!)

I recently had my superworm container sitting next to my new silkworm plastic dish and I sadly noticed tiny white bugs (most likely grain mites) crawling around in the silkworm dish.. (I'm guessing this is why I see quite a few dead silkworm babies, this didn't happen last time )

What do I do. D:

Sorry to tell you but the easiest and fastest way is to throw everything away and start fresh. Clean all your containers with the hottest water and soap you can stand then dry them with a hair dryer. The more heat you can use the better the chances of killing all the eggs. All the shelves you kept things on will need to be cleaned as well.

I buy anti mite paper here. Be sure to change it out bi weekly until you have things under control. Keep your new cultures as dry as possible. Remove any moist food after the worms have had a few hours to eat.

How many worms did you have? Are they costly there? Locally, I can pick them up for 35$/1000. Hope they didn't cost too much -=(

I only purchased about 500 recently for $15 shipped. I've been trying to keep a cycle going so I wouldn't have to purchase anymore. I have babies in an under tray below the beetle supeworms (its a small 3 drawer idea I found on youtube) and I recently purchased 500 silkworm eggs that have been infested as well, and I've only had them ... since Monday! And I believe there were mite eggs on the lid of the silkworm container. There were tons. I washed the lid with super hot water and bleach and then soap.

I placed an order for the anti mite paper and currently have my superworm, silkworm and new isopod babies from a mother I caught outside floating in water (I read somewhere that traps the mites from going anywhere else?)

I'm really really hoping there aren't any in my roach bin.. I know for a fact there were tiny white bugs eating and living on the inside of quite a few dead adult Dubias over time that I've picked out of the bin but I don't see any mites crawling around at the bottom of the bin like I did in the superworm bin.

Can't you freeze silkworm eggs? I've never bred silkworms but I'm pretty sure silkworm eggs can be frozen. Not sure but it should kill the mites. Who knows about the eggs though
