i got a f.verrucosus and i have only realised now that it looks like half his front foot has swollen but he can grasp and doesnt move it when touched he also feeds and drinks well is this gout or possibly an absess but ive had it three weeks and im really attached to him so i will get him a vets appointment asap

The vet is a good idea. There could be many reasons for swelling of the extremities:
1: Chronic dehydration - usually painful to move
2: Bad water
3: Lack of calcium

Howdy David,

I noticed in one of your earlier posts that your f.V. is still young. It seems that when gout is found in chameleons, it is more often found in adult chameleons. Also, if it is only one foot that seems to show the symptoms then maybe it is an infection. I've seen both in chameleons and when it was gout, it was in multiple feet and when it was an infection, it was just one foot.

Here is any earlier post regarding gout: https://www.chameleonforums.com/warning-necropsy-photos-gout-17746/#post148483

If its gout its usually in the ankle not the foot and the chameleon will often hang the leg off the branch and not put weight on the foot.Is it missing a nail or does it look like there could have been an injury or pulling (out) of the nail?

well i think he is older than he was meant to be as he is about 16 inchs and it is a very similar lump on one of the front feet but the other one is much more swollen but i dont think i can do anything as the vets was closed and now they say it wont be until friday the 20th and he is looking really bad:(

How is he looking bad?
IMHO you need to get him to a vets NOW...can you not find another vet or tell the one you are talking about that its an emergency?

Where do you live? We can help you find a vet in your area that actually cares.

well i explained to the vet it was an emergancy nd she said she could get me in 3 days later but he passed away the next mornin when i looked in his viv i found him dead and there were a load of worm near his cloaca on the ground i only had him like two weeks and i had my oustalets for 8 days and he died i got him to the verts the 3rd day he was with me but he had an eye problem and he wouldnt feed
