what a week...So i when i took Clyde to the doc yesterday cause he wasn't looking good we had a fecal done. Got him some eye drops to fix up his right eye and today the results of the fecal came in and it turns out he had a high count of pin worms... i believe the vet will prescribe panacur but i wont know for sure till tonight. Now the question is once we rid him of them, how do i rid the enclosure of them???

Take everything out and give it a good washing with hot, hot water and scrub with soap. After that, soak it in a 20% bleach solution for a while- bake branches at 350 degrees for half an hour at least. You can also use a steam cleaner to clean it out. Rinse well and clean up poo as soon as he has them.

Cupfeed for now. It will prevent reinfection.

thanks for the quick reply, and if you dont mind, i have a few more questions for you.
-when should i clean everything, now or after i am finished treating everything, or sometime in between.
-in each of my cages i have a ficus, an umbrella, and a pothos all tied together with biovines, so do i just rinse the live plants with soap and water? and soak the biovines in bleach.
-can i get infected from this?
-oh and i cupfeed already, so thats good.
thanks again for the help

Well, I am not totally sure but what I would do is:

clean everything now and after treatment. Maybe once a week right before he is dosed with the medicine.

Definitely clean the biovine with the bleach solution (let it soak but make sure you rinse well!) and thoroughly wash the plants with warm water and soap. Make sure you clean the rocks covering your soil as well- you can boil these and do the bleach thing.

You shouldn't be able to get this if you practice proper handwashing after handling your cham or his things.

Clean that cup out, too :)

Kenya explain it real well:

-when should i clean everything, now or after i am finished treating everything, or sometime in between.

my recommendation:
Clean everything now. Simplify your cage to bare essentials. The more stuff you have the more you run the risk of reinfection from inability to clean well. Then treat him. Remove poop as soon as it drop. Usually your cham will have a routine of when and where he poop.
After treatment, clean the cage. Usually the vet recommend multiple treatments at 2 weeks interval. Make sure you clean the cage after every treatment.

-in each of my cages i have a ficus, an umbrella, and a pothos all tied together with biovines, so do i just rinse the live plants with soap and water? and soak the biovines in bleach.
Soak biovines and cage in bleach (10 % solution). Make sure you clean them well. I would suggest you to no longer use the live plants anymore for his cage.

-can i get infected from this?
Yes. The risk is there. But, it involves you ingesting the feces of the infected chameleon.
So, my recommendation: Use disposable gloves when cleaning the cage.
Don't eat without thoroughly washing your hand or bite your nails.

Hope that helps
