Got warm yesterday

Hi all,

I leave my basking light on the entire day which then automatically shuts off in the evening via the timer. However yesterday it seems it got a little too warm for my Jackson Chameleon (over 85). I know that 85 is supposed to be their basking spot but my entire room was 85-90.. I'm just concerned that if I was not home I would not be able to turn it off so does anyone have any suggestions? How can I shut the basking lamp off if temperatures get too hot?

Also, second question, not just shutting it off but anyone have any ideas on cooling the room (Summer time for instance).. i know Chams don't like air conditioning so how can we maintain proper temperature when it gets too hot.

Thanks!

AC is fine, as long as the cage isn't in the area where the air hits (draft). It will help control the temp.
As long as your cage is big enough so the cham can regulate his body temp, you don't have to worry to much.
