Got my very first Crested Gecko!

Well, I was in a reptile related group on Facebook and we have a gift exchange consisting of reptiles and reptile supplies. Well we had a Secret Santa for Christmas and then we had a Secret Bunny for Easter time. Well, last gift exchange I got a CB Bearded Pygmy Chameleon that sadly passed away. Then I got another to replace it which is a Madagascan Velvet Gecko, which is about to be shipped next week. Anyway, this time I sent my person two tarantulas that they wanted and I got a Crested Gecko and two praying mantis'! I named him/her Arnold and Arnie for short. I have a plastic shoe box setup with paper towels on the bottom and a fake vine and paper towel roles. I got CGD with him so he can he. He's super amazing already. c: I love his little tail! So, after this long rambling. Anyone who has crested geckos have any tips? Also, post pics if you will!

oooooh! Congrats! I love cresties too! I find that I worry about mine more than the chams, but I think that's because I am really a cham person, lol! I will say, don't let them get too hot - 85 or above for any length of time will kill them. I have a male and female pair that are yet to meet (all in good time)! My male is called Splat and my female is called Buffie (the cricket slayer, lol)! Here's a couple of pics! I just love the way cresties curl their toes up the wrong way, and I love the feel of their feet!:D

I love Buffie and Splat! I do believe that I bombarded your photo albums on Facebook. ;)

This little guy is getting weighed when I get home. c: Any tips with feeding CGD?

Here are a few photos of him that his previous "mom" took of him. c: He's such a sweet little Crested Gecko! He weighs the same as both of my Pygmy Chameleons, also the same length almost!

Height is always better with these as chameleons. They also like a lot of plants to hide in. Fake ones are perfect. They usually hide in vines behind the plants put you can put a little coconut hut on the floor if you like. They also like fruit flavored baby food as a treat and crickets. Remember the mist them at least once a day too

Thanks. ;) I am part of Pangea.com forums. The shoe box is perfect for him as of now just with his size. Getting him a nice tall exo terra in the beginning of the summer. He gets crickets, dubia, and CGD. I won't feed the baby food unless necessary or as a treat. The crickets and dubia are also a treat since he is still younger.

Last night I got Arnie some fresh CGD from the night before after it dried out. Well, he did eat almost 1/4 of the little cap of CGD! So he's getting better with his eating habits, but I took him out while I was reading my Reptiles Annual magazine that had an article about Crested Geckos and care etc. and he started to fire up! My camera is a dinosaur and can go die, but all in all. I got two decent pictures out of the dozen or so that I did take. Flash was on and it was the only way I could get an all right picture. So here they are. I'm hoping to pick up one in a few weeks at the Minnesota Reptile Expo and another at the Herp Meeting an hour away sometime in May. Please excuse my eye blinding white skin. I have yet to turn red or tan. :b
