Hey y'all.
I used to have 12 packs of dogs (they are rottweiller, dobberman, dachsund, siberian husky, chow chow, poodle, and mini pinscher) back home when I was a kid.

And, I loved all the time I spent with them. They are all pretty much gone due to old age :(.. but, their legacy (their grand puppies) continues at my parent's home (though no longer amounted to 12.. now they have 6 only).

I always wanted to adopt or buy a basset hound:

Does anyone here have one? can you share the pros and cons?

Thanks

I actually found one dodging traffic on I-75 6 or so months ago, and I pulled over and rescued him and took him home. Even after being petrified from almost getting hit multiple times, he ran to me, and jumped in my old rodeo. He didn't have a collar on, but i knew he wasnt a stray, he was pretty clean, and sooo friendly. I took him home and contacted the local basset hound group about him and told them to contact me if anyone contacted them about a missing basset. I figured I would keep him because those kind of groups are under funded, and I sure one less dog for them to keep would save them money. Sooo i kept him for almost 6 weeks. He was the friendliest boy ever. He thought he was a lap dog, and was one of the sweetest dogs I have ever seen. His nails grew really quickly, so you have to stay on top of that, especially if he came indoors. Their signature basset bark is loud and can be hear from miles away, but thats what theyre bred for, and I will tell you it was obnoxious. Before I had met him, It never even crossed my mind to get one, but now, theyre one of my favorite breeds. The rescue got an email about 6 weeks later with a photo, and sure enough it was him, and it went back to a family of a single father, and his 4 young daughters . Sorry for the long story, but Im glad I saved him, and they are definitely a huge contender for my own dog when I have my own home.
