this is my newest addition to my collection. he is 8.5 weeks old. i got him at LLL reptile in oceanside this weekend. I believe he's a male, (i hope) it was kind of hard to distinguish between the males and females. but here he is.
When we were choosing for a male, "he" was the only one in there that was kinda darker in color. his bars were black. the others look brown and no bars. Anyways hes been eating like a pig and drinking plenty of water. hopefully he turns out nice.
looks like you got a female.
at least to me.. you need to get close up shots of the vent/tail area to be really sure, but im putting my money on female.
the bars are never the best way to determine male from female.
my female sambava.
oldest one* i need another new one as she is even bigger now*
whats in the vent/tail area that distinguishes them apart? What should i look for? after looking at ur pics, im beginning to think i have a female too!
the vent is the poopshoot... and your looking for a fair size buldge in the base of the tale on the male,
it'll be fairly obvious.
here is my male sambava.
you notice his tail is far fatter, after the vent, females tend to just be a tail, the males have a hemipenal buldge that makes the base much fatter. he is about 4 months in this photo.
