Golden pothos

I picked up a totem pole golden pothos today at lowes. Is it safe for panther chameleons. How do you guys keep live plants alive in your Cham cages. There are blue circle pellets in the potting soil and pop when you smash them with finger. First time for me to add a live plant. I don't want to harm him as well. So great advice will be taken and used for this topic question. Thanks

Golden pothos is safe to use, even safe for him to eat a bit of it if he likes. Pothos is one of the most often recommended plants to use because it stays alive easily, has nice big leaves and is edible. Best to take it and re-pot it in organic compost though to remove the fertilizer pellets, those are not edible :)

I believe that is on the safe list. I would repot it in organic soil and put rocks on top of soil just in case he shoots at a cricket and gets a mouthful of soil. I have my plants in places where the water from misting goes into pot and I empty the bowl the plant sits in regularly. Others will have different ideas for you.

Thank you good to hear. Appreciate it just need to find compost or organic soil. I have top soil with sand and peat. I used for my female Cham egg bin. Could I put pebbles on the pots surface for now. There's just a bunch of fertilizer at the pellets.

As long as he can't shoot one. Need to be largish .

Wash the leaves very well. And repot in organic SOIL and large rocks that couldn't even maybe fit in his mouth.

Just a tip put a layer of the same river rocks in the bottom of your new pot to help with draining before adding soil and your plant. Sitting water in your soil will smell really foul and kill your plant.

Or litter the bottom of the pot with 1/8" holes like i did. Given u have drainge in ur setup. And I used a 50/50 mix of soil and sand so it drains very well due to it gets watered 3 times a day. my pothos is thriving and growing like crazy

Thanks I will try this and hope mine grows like crazy like yours. Am just new to this and ask to many questions. I like to be safe then sorry. If you add loose feeders they don't harm the plants and soil you no. With the plant I found repoting has to be done and drainage I'll improve with sand and river rocks.

I always free range my feeders. Dubias will hide in plant rocks but crickets tend to go to.the top. I've had no issues yet!

Great and that's good no problems. Just thought crickets eat leaves and superworms would get to the roots and eat them non stop. Happened with my female veiled super eat the paper towel I put down for wast poop. But now with having a 12 inch deep pot and 8 inches width. She poops everyday on top of the soil. I use top soil sand and peat for her laying bin. But never touched it yet but has humps on top of back legs. I made a huge tunnel to the bottom. I just wished my veiled was a male. Pet stores never tell ya nothing.
