Gnats?

Anyone had any problems with gnats? I have noticed a few little winged bugs in my cage recently. Today when I was watering my plant, I noticed there were some more massing around the rocks on top of the soil. Anyone have any ideas about how to get rid of them? I'd rather not repot my plants if there's another way.

Cage Info:

* Cage Type - 2' x 2' x 4' screen enclosure from LLL
* Lighting - alternate a 60w and a 100w incandescent for basking based on the ambient temp in the room. I keep the window open most of the day for air circulation. Reptisun 5.0 for UVB.
* Temperature - Digital thermometer. Range goes from 87f-95f at the basking spot to about 75ish f at the bottom of the cage.
* Humidity - buying a gauge today
* Plants - Dwarf Schefflera
* Location - My bedroom. I spend a lot of time in there alone or with the girlfriend, but not a whole lot of other traffic. He's in the corner by the closet and I'm generally on the other side of the room.

Chameleon Info:

* Your Chameleon - Veiled Male ~5 months
* Handling - only when cleaning the cage
* Feeding - crickets are the staple. Usually between 10-15 per day, depending on their size. I gut load with apples, collard greens, oats, carrots and mustard greens. I feed superworms as a treat once in a while as well.
* Supplements - Calcium w/o D3 mon-sat. Calcium with D3 and Miner All I alternated every other Sunday. I usually only dust about half of his feeders each feeding.
* Watering - I generally mist four or five times a day for about 3 minutes or so.
* Fecal Description - Dark brown/black with white urates. The whites have been slightly runny lately. Has not been checked for parasites.
* History - None that I know of.
* Current Problem - What the eff is up with these gnats?

Own a steam cleaner? That's how I got rid of the ones I had worked perfectly haven't had any since. Mine were in my Schefflera and you can see them under the leafs.

Please elaborate? Didja steam clean the whole cage or just set it out there and steam the hell out of the cage that way? I need to get a mental picture.

Well it's always good to steam clean the whole cage period to get rid of anything that could be living inside your chams house (Remove the cham before steaming the cage). You can steam just the base of the plant but I would do the whole cage just to make sure they are gone. When steaming the leafs of the plant make sure to not be as close as you would to the cage with the steamer cause you can burn the leafs. The steamer I used is the Shark Steamer like this one.

Also if you don't have a steamer you could Water the plants with soapy water will help kill them too

Very cool. Thanks a bunch. I'll rock the soapy water first. Probably pick up a steamer Friday at work.
