Gizmo Bit His Own Tail!

This all happened so fast!

Cricket jumped on his tail. Gizmo turned around, shot out his tongue and before you could say "ouch", he brought the cricket (and the tip of his tail) into his mouth and bit down.

Of course he released both the cricket and his tail as soon as he bit. Must of really hurt though. He was whipping his tail around obviously in pain. Poor guy.

Now my question. What should I do? Should I put something on it? Should I wash it with something?

Some Zymox or Silvadene Cream would be good to use.

or you can use betadine solution or Nolvasan.
Just pour a bit of nolvasan on a wet cotton and wipe the area daily to disinfect until the wound heal.

Perhaps, a bit of neosporin might be ok to avoid infection.

Whichever available.
Zymox is good too.

I can tell you this - it looks fine compared to when my Veiled's tail got snatched in the screen cage door.
It was black for about a month..
His tail doesn't look fully bruised, seems to have some color and it's not all back..
So here's to a swift recovery!

You're right, it could be worse. It definately has a kink in it now - although it's only noticeable when he holds it straight out.
