Getting correct basking temp

so I put up a husbandry check a few days ago, I appreciate all whom looked and gave feedback.
So question is getting the correct basking temp.
I use 2 govee Temp/hygrometer 1 hanging basically 3in above the basking branch and the other half way down the cage. It was suggested that I use a temp gauge with a prob, to get a accurate basking temp. Obviously that's important to have accurate data especially at this spot in the habitat. I dont own 1 but dont have an issue purchasing 1 if thats a better way then what I currently have, but I also don't want to make a purchase if its not needed. So if people could let me know if what I'm using is good or is it wise to purchase a temp guage with a probe. I was sort of under the impression that the govee monitors were a good and also pretty accurate device to measure both temp and humidity. Again TY in advance for any and all advice.

Thermometers with probes are considered more accurate but to be honest I just use a few govee thermometers around different parts of the enclosure and a temp gun.

I use digital hygrometer/thermometers with probes because they're virtually the same price as just thermometers. Most recently I bought a 5-pack.

  • I can use a few in the enclosure and have spares.
  • They're accurate withing 2°/2% but I can also use them as a check against each other.

Thats funny because I actually had those exact meters along with the Govee in my Amazon cart and went with the Govee instead for some reason. at that price it won't hurt. Again thanks for all the help once I put my enclosure up I will post pics and then again when the little 1 comes. Im on here daily just soaking in as much as I can. I'm sure there will be hiccups along the way but honestly am trying to learn from others experiences.

I like the idea of the Govee for those for whom the tech is an actual boon; they're just overkill for me. I don't own a smartphone, and I'm here every day just enjoying watching the little dude, so I monitor along with everything else about his enclosure. 🤓
