i have a 6 month old veiled. Lately as in just the past few days he leaves his between gaping open to slightly all the time. he even travels around his enclosure with it open. he is healthy as far as i can tell in every other way, but i know reptiles can be deceptive as far as showing all illness till it too late. I would love any advice as to what might be causing this and what to possibly do about it. thanks so much

If possible, get a bit close to him as he gapes. As he breathes, is their any noise? Like wheezing or bubbling noises?

If not, check your temperatures. They can also gape if their enclosure is too hot.

Usually they do this when they are to hot. Or like the person stated above. Your cham could be sick. Also try moving it's basking light a little further from him/her. They gape when it's too hot to let their salvia to evaporate so they can cool down.

no wheezing or any bad respiratory sounds thank god! i will tone down the heat and see what happens. thanks everyone.
