What does Pardalis mean? I guess Furcifer in Latin means "rascal", but I can't find what pardalis means

forked spots, spotty rascal? hehe I like the latin definition of Furcifer, it suits my chameleon, anyway!

Think of Pardalis as something similar to ocelot or leopard.

EDIT: I don't believe there is an -er ending in Latin, unless I'm not remembering correctly. I'll check my Latin book tomorrow.

So you're saying wikipedia is wrong, then? it says furcifer

ps. along with everything else, too.

Wikipedia can be edited by just about anyone....

If you read books about chameleons the definition of Furcifur as it is used in Furcifer Pardalis or any other Furcifer species it means forked. Just like Chamaeleo Furcifer which has a forked appendage on its nose.

Furcifer means scoundrel or rascal but furcifur means forked. o sorry, didnt see someone already said that

Is it still pronounce the way it is in Latin? Like the 'ci' would make a 'key' sound.
